All maps, plans, &c., for the Wellington and Manawatu railway are now finally approved by both parties, and the seal of the colony will be affixed to the contract at the Executive Council to-morrow, after the contract is signed and sealed by the company. To day, ten gentlemen who held from 300 shares each downwards in the first issue of 10,000 shares of £5 each, agreed to increase their subscriptions towards the second issue by making their total 2000 shares each, or £IOO,OOO between the ten. It is believed that within the next day or two several other shareholders will similarly increase their subscriptions, and immediately the contract is sealed, work will be commenced at both ends of the line.
