CHRISTCHURCH. Friday, March 17. [Before O. Whitefoord and J. OUivisr, Ejqra., R.M.’s, and R. Westenra, Esq., J-P-] Drunkenness. — May Mitchell was fined ss, and ordered to pay Is cab hire. _ Fighting. —Mary Ryan and Lily Wright pleaded “ Guilty ” to fighting in Gloucester street on the night before. Against the first, though only fourteen years old, there were seven or eight previous oonviotiona recorded. The other, an older woman, had also been several times convicted. As Ryan seemed to be the most to blame, abo was fined £5 or one month’s imprisonment. Wright was fined £l, or one week’s imprisonment, both to be kept to hard labor.
Vagrancy. Margaret Thompson was charged with soliciting prostitution. She denied having committed the offence. She was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment with hard labor.
Lunacy prom Drink. —Floranoe Anthony, who had been sent to gaol for medical treatment for seven days, was now reported as cured. He was ordered to pay 10s 61 for his maintenance while in gaol, and with a caution was discharged. Obtaining Money on False Prbtbhcbs. —A charge of this nature against Wm. Jno. Simmonde was withdrawn, the police stating that the prosecutor had failed to identify him.
