MAIL NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under FEIDAY, MAECH 17.
For Northern Ports and Australian Colonies, via Sydney, per Te Anau (connecting with Eotorna at Auckland) at 1.45 p m.; lata fee letters, 2 p.m.; guard’s van, 5.40 p.m. train. THDEsDAY, MAECH 18. For Northern Porta, per Penguin, at 7 p.m. The guards van must not be used for this mail.
Thn next mail for the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will be closed at Christchurch on Saturday, March 25th, and will be due in London on Mar Bth.
Notice. —Penny duty stamps may in future be used as postage stamps, and penny postage stamps may bo affixed to receipts in place of duty stamps. SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
