For a first offence a man was fined 5s and ordered to pay Is cab hire. Assaults —George John Jackson and Daniel J. Clifford, on. remand from March 13th, were charged, the first with assaulting John and Maria Smith and with the wilful destruction of property belonging to John Smith and Watty Neales, and the latter with assaulting Watty Neales at midnight of February 12th-13 th. After hearing lengthy contradictory evidence, the Magistrate thought the blame of both parties was equal, and dismissed the case. Abating a Nuisance —ln the case of an information heard yesterday against John Ooker, for permitting a nuisanoe on his premises, Dr. Nedwill stated that Mr Ooker had stated his intention of forthwith having altered the arrangement complained about. An adjournment of one week was consequently made, the Inspector to report at the end of that time.

Absconding fuom Sbbvioe.—Joseph Beamish, the Burnham School boy who was charged yesterday with running away from his master, was again brought up, and ordered to be sent baok to the sohool.

ROWDYISM.—John Gilpin and Thomas Fahr were oharged with behaving, on the nirht of February 25th, in a manner calculated to provoke a breach of the peace. On the application of the police they were remanded till March 17th.
