LYTTELTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The usual meeting of this Council was held on Monday night, when there were present— The Mayor, and Councillors Weybourno, Grubb, Garforth. Reed, Stinson, Macdonald, Smith The receipts since the preceding meeting were £SO 14s (id. The Council first considered the offer of tho Harbor Board to build a concrete wall along the Gorman’s Bay road, near the dock. It was agreed to accept the offer, the Board to be liable for any future damage to the road at that particular spot. The Engineer of Railways wrote that tho proposal to put in trans in the sewers near the railway gates would ho considered by the department. In reply to a request from Captain H. McLellan to reconsider their decision with respect to his property frontage, it was decided not to reopen the matter. Mrs Leslie, a lessee of a piece of ground on Norwich Quay, reported that she was 2ft short of tho quantity she hod leased. The foreman of works was authorised to investigate the matter, and, if possible, remedy it. Accounts amounting to £2IC iss 6d were passed for payment. The works committee reported that tho sewers in Salt’s gully had been completed, and the sum of £453 8s Bd, the contractor's price for the work, was passed for payment. An application was made by the residents on the old Governor’s Bay road for metal to be laid on it. The request was left with tho works committee. Owners of unregistered dogs, it was agreed, should be notified that they mu-t comply with the Act at once. On the suggestion of Or. Bead, the works committee agreed to inspect the Voelas road bridge with a view to improving it. It was also agreed, at the suggestion of Cr. Garforth, to write to the Minister of Public Werks, enquiring when tho bridge across the railway at the foot of Oxford street would be commenced with. Cr. Webb came in just before the meeting terminated.
