Melbourne International Exhibition, 11th April, 1881. To J. Cosmo Newbery, Esq., Superintendent of Juries and Awards. Sir, —According to your instructions we have made a practical test and thorough examination of the following Sewing Machines, viz., the Wheeler and Wilson, Jones and Co., Wertheim, and the Davis, and the results of our experiments are set forth in the tabulated statement attached. The Wheeler and Wilson differs in construction, hut the results of our experiments are similar to the former named. A* regards the DAVIS, we cannot but agree with the jury that it is very buperlor to any of the others, and went through every test to our entire satisfaction.
