ATTEMPT TO SHOOT THE QUEEN.
TBY CABLE.] [EEUTEE'S TILEGEAMS.I LONDON, March 3. The Queen continues well, her health having in no way suffered in consequence of the attempt upon her life. Universal sympathy is manifested towards her Majesty, telegrams having heen received to-day from various Foreign Courts testifying to the sympathy which is felt, and expressing gratification at her Majesty's providential escape from injury. The hullet which was fired from the assailant's revolver has heen found near the scene of the outrage. The prisoner, Roderick McLean, was hronght np to-day at the Police Court charged with the attempt on the Queen's Ufa. He was quite collected, showing no symptom of insanity, and pleaded that poverty drove him to commit the outrage. He declared that he had no intention of murdering her Majesty. He was remanded to Friday next. It has transpired that McLean, who attempted the life of the Queen, was formerly confined in a lunatic asylum.
