Reports have been current that arrests have been made in connection with the theft of the body of the late Earl of Crawford from the mausoleum at Dnnecht House. It is now, however, authoritatively stated that no such arrests have been made. The Commercial Treaty Difficulty. In the House of Commons to-day, the Under Secretary for Foreign Affairs, in reply to a question, stated that it was intended that the measure which had been introduced by the Minister of Com. merce in the French Chambers providing for the “ most favored nation ” treatment to English goods should take effect as from the 15 th May next, and that in the meanwhile the tariff fixed under the existing commercial treaty should reman in force. Sir Ohas. Dilke further stated that the action of the French Government was entirely voluntary, and added that England was in no way pledged as to the course she should pursue in view of the non-conclusion of a new treaty with France. PARIS, February 25. The Bill introduced by M. Tirard, Minister of Commerce, providing for the “ most favored nation ” treatment of English goods under the French tariff has been adopted by the Chambers. CONSTANTINOPLE, February 25. The Rebellion. A detachment of Turkish troops has been ordered to the frontier of Montenegro and Bosnia to prevent the Albanians joining the insurgents in those provinces, which, from information to hand, it is feared they are doing under the pretence of friendship towards the Austrians.
