The youth who "soWls wild oats " is apt to mix in more or less tear*. The wages of farm servants at the Martinmas hiring fairs in Scotland fell about 10 per cent, from those of the corresponding period of 1881, arid many servants have failed to effect engagements. To Soften Leather.—Mix 1 pint of boiled linseed oil, 2oz beeswax, loz Burgundy rut=h, 2sz of turpentine, and melt them over a slow fire. The mixture should be well rubbed into the leather on both sides, but principally on the fletb side.
