RANGIORA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The monthly meeting of this Oonncii wag held in Chambers on Friday evening laet. Preient—The Mayor (Mr Johnston), Ors. Boyd, Burt, Ellie, Good, Gulliver, Ivory, Stephens and White. Correspondence was received, read, and considered—From Charitable Aid Board re abuse of aid in a case referred to, and the Board asked to discontinue the allowance. From Mr Charles Boynton, applying for office of borough ranger. Appointment granted.—From Mr J. Fulton, for permission to erect verandah in front of his premises in High street ; the pattern for same would be similar to Messrs O. G. and O. J. Chapman's. Permission granted.—From General Government, with Treasury voucher for subsidy to borough, £194 19s Bd, less borough's snare of cost of maintenance Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, £192 ; leaving a balance of subsidy for borough purposes of £2 193 Sd.—From Under-Seoretary, acknowledging receipt cf No. 3 borough by-law.—From Collector of Customs, forwarding statement of carriage licenses paid by W. A. Burt and F. SteveEi. —Messrs C. G. and C. J. Chapman re level for sale, and offering same to Council, but borough funds would not admit of purchase of same. — The surveyor's report read and adopted.— The town clerk stated that only a few dogs were registered, and instructions were given to the ranger to make a house to house visitation, and, after certain notice, all owners of unregistered dogs would be proceeded against. He further stated that all the rates were now paid with the exception of those of three or four persons. Instructed to summon forthwith. —The clerk instructed to serve gorse notioe, and enforoe compliance. The cost of lamp posts and lighting baring bees duly considered, it was unanimously decided to erect about a dozen, and the sites were fixed upan there and then. —The clerk was instructed to oarry out by-law re height of verandahs, and where necessary, to oauea same to be altered. —Cr. Burt's resolution re the introduction of the closet pan system was again discussed, and the Council eventually decided to adopt same where necessary.— The credit balance at the Bank was £I6S 4s. —Accounts approved and psssed for payment, £32 2s. —A vote of thanks was pasßed to the chair, and the meeting terminated.
