THE NEW DAVIS Vertical Feed SEWING MACHINE PROVED Itself superior to all other Machines In the Melbourne Exhibition. Read the following : COPT OF REPORT. Melbourne International Exhibition, 11th April, 1881To J. Cosmo Newbery, Esq., Superintendent of Juries and Awards. Sir, —According to your instructions wo have made a practical test and thorough examination of the following Sewing Machines, viz , the Wheeler and WiUon, Jones and Co., Wertheim, and the Davis, and the results of our experiments are set forth in. the tabula • ted statement attached. We find that the Wertheim and Jones all of the Singer type and similar in construction, and should be classed in the same order. The_ Wheeler and Wilson differs In construction, but the results of our experiments are similar to the former named. As regards the DAVIS, we cannot but agree with the jury that it is very buperior to any of the others, and went through every test to our entire satisfaction. We therefore beg to recommend that the Machines be placed in the following order : FAMILY MACHINES. Ist, The Davis ; 3rd, Wheeler and Wilson, Jcnes and Co., Wertheim. HAND MACHINES.
