The bridegroom is [Mr Whitney, a very rich merchant of New York. The lady ia exceedingly wealthy, having earned over £50,000 during her last operatic oareer. J. K. Emmet and oompany opened at the Opera House, Pittsburg, on Ootober 31st.
CHRISTCHURCH HORTICULTURAL SOCIETST. T3B AUiUMN SHOW of Fraits, Flowers, and Vegetables will be held at the ODDFELLOWS' HALL, Lichfield street, on THUKSDAY, MAROH 2nd. In addition to the ordinary prize* of the Society, there are numerouH prizes offered by private donors for the beat exhibits in various classes ; and the Society also offers a special prizi of a Silver Cup for the best exhibit of Grapes.
