CORRESPONDENCE

THB RAILWAY EMPLOYES. To the Editor of the Globe. g lß( —Ktcenfcly a large number of local tradesmen were asked to contribute money and trophies for the railway employes’ picnic. Such an amount was collected that it was found impossible to spend it all during the day. What to do with the surplus (some £2C) wit the consideration. A few men, satisfied with one day’s liberal amusement, proposed to hand over the amount to an apprentice, who, when nearly out of hia time, lost both hia legs some six weeks ago. This web negatived by a large majority, who . planned more amusement, and carried their point. I leave it to the donors to decide which proposal was tho manliest. Yours, &c,f AN EMPLOYE.
