Gannon, one of the defeated candidates in late election for a representative of the East Coast district in Parliament, was entertained at a public dinner by his friends and sup porters. During the evening a gold watch was presented to him by his supporters to show their appreciation of his exertions in advocating the wants of the district and the reforms so urgently required in the Native land laws.
