GREYMOUTH HARBOR WORKS.

[PBBSS ASSOCIATION THIKGRAM ] GBEYMOUTH, February 16. A largely attended meeting was held hers to-night, to consider the action of the Government in so seriously stopping the progress of the harbor works. The Han. Lahman, M.L.O. was in the chair. The first resolution was—" That in the opinion of this meeting the action of the Government in reducing the number of men employed on the Grreymouth Harbor Works at the present time, when the benefits arising from the work alreadydone are showing themselves by the increased depth on the bar, and when the works are at the most critical point, is unwise and impolitic" The second resolution was—" That the completion of the harbor works is of vital importance to Greyrnouth and the surrounding districts, aB well as to the whole colony. This meeting therefore respectfully would urge the Government to use every effort to push on the work and to employ extra labor rather than make a reduction." (3) " That the foregoing resolutions be telegraphed to the Hon. the Minister for Public Works, and that copies be sent to Messrs Petrie, Weston, and Fitzgerald, M.H.E's, inviting their assistance and co-operation to give effect to the object of this meeting." These resolutions; ware carried unanimously.
