[Br TauiGRATH.] [Per H.B. City of Sydney, at Auokland.] SAN FRANCISCO, January 30. Sir Henry Parkea is still in San Francisco. He has had an interview with the leading officials of the city, and was courteously received by all, He wag shown over several of the publio institutions and Government departments of the city, and paid some attention to the tramways of San Francisoo, which are worked ohieflr by horse power and wire ropes, uo steam power being employed. The syßtem appears to work very satisfactorily. With regard to the wool duties, the opinions of leading politicians here give little enoourage-nent to hope that the Premier's mission in this respect will prove successful. The general belief in political oiroles, as far as can be ascertained at the present, is that ths proposal for the repression of duties on Australian wool oannot he entertained by the Government of the United States, being inconsistent with the protectionist policy, LONDON, January 30. Triokett's friends and admirers in England are anxious to mutch him against Hanlan again. Matters have been talked over with Hanlan and his baokers, and Hanlan has expressed his willingness to row Trickett for £SOO aside and the championship, but Triokett's London friends oan only raise £2OO. The Bosnian insurgents are being commanded by Russian officers. The result of the settlement on the Bourse in Paris in connection with the recent financial failures was that the rate of disoount in Belgium was raised to 9 per cent. The directors of the Bank of England also raised the minimum rate of discount, which is now fixed at 6 per cent. The Parisian Banks guaranteed an advance of 85,000,000 franes to help authorised brokers. Several firms in Germany are reported to have failed. Considerable excitement was produced throughout Prance by the announcement that the Union General Bank, which was founded by the Roman Catholic financiers, and which was regarded as one of the soundest financial institutions in Paris, suspended payment. The corporation of Lyons stockbrokers become bankrupt.
