Fifteen persons were arrested for being concerned in the murder of the two bailiff* whose bodies were found in Lough Mask. A horrible agrarian outrage is reported to have been perpetrated in Ireland. A farmer was roasted alive for paying his rent. Extensive military preparations ore being carried on in Austria to oope with the insurgent rising in Btu us, Dalmatia, and Herzegovina. An army of 65,000 men will be placed in the field for active service. Considerable ill-feeling has been displayed of late by the Egyptian natives against the foreign inhabitants of the country, owing to the influence exercised by European powers over the effiirs of Egypt. The ill-feeling of the natives at Tantah, situated on the Damietta branch of the Nile, culminated in a rising against the Europeans of the town, whioh, however, was soon suppressed by the authorities. February 1. An examination of the accounts of the Union General Bank in Paris, which has suspended payment, disclosed the existence of a deficit amounting to 96,000,000 francs. The prosecution of several high personages connected with the institution is considered probable. The office of the " New York Times " has been destroyed by fire. Many lives are believed to have been lost during the conflagration.
