TRADES ROWING CLUB.
The double sculling race in eoneotion with the above club for the committee’s prize came off last evening. Out of thirteen entries for the race nine came to the post. The first three heats resulted as follows : FIRST HEAT. Eclipse (south bank) —J. Freeman, stroke; H, Wigzell, bow I Cygnet (north bank)—B. Butterfield, stroke; J. Brunt, bow ... ... 2 This was rather a hollow affair, Freeman leading from start to finish, and winning by about six lengths. SECOND HEAT. Eclipse (south bank)—F. Wigzell, stroke; F. Gee, bow... ■ 1 Cygnet (north bank)—F. Row, stroke ;C. Baker, bow ... 2 Both boats got away to a good start. Wigzell leading slightly until he reached Cowliahaw's, when he increased his lead to about two lengths, ultimately winning by four lengths. THIRD HEAT. Eclipse (south bank) —F. Wells, stroke; J, Paul, bow... ... ... ... ... 1 Cygnet (north bank) —F. Haddrell, stroke, J. Harrison, bow ... 2 Both crews caught the water together, and eontinuad abreast until passing Robinson’s, when Wells obtained a slight lead, which he increased, and won comfortably by three lengths and a half.
