Sir George Grey and several other members waited at the Premier’s office to-day for the 1 purpose of requesting him to follow the 1 1 established rule of calling Parliament together as quickly as possible after the general election. Through some misunderstanding the Premier was not at his office, and the 1 deputation was postponed till to-morrow. _Mr Moss has a petition from Dunedin to a similar effect, with the request that he would get it signed. Mr Moss has handed the petition to Sir G. Grey to take action. NEW PLYMOUTH, February 3. The s.s. McGregor. The atoamer McGregor arrived in the Woitara River last night from Minakau, and this morning, at an early hour, it was discovered she was rapidly filling with water. Instant measures were taken to endeavor to discover the cause, when it was found she had a hole in her bottom. She is supposed to have settled on a snag. The cargo is being discharged from her in a very damaged state. TIMARU, February 3. Alleged Forgery. John Thomas Healey, a very old resident, has been committed for trial at tho Supreme Court on three charges of forging and uttering bills and cheques. His de c enoe was reserved. Bail was allowed, himself in £SOO and two sureties in £250 each.
