The Persecuted JewsA large and influential meeting was held at the Mansion House for the purpose of taking steps to raise funds to assist the Russian Jews. A powerful committee was appointed to carry out the objects of the meeting, and £15,000 was subscribed in the room. VIENNA, February 1. The Rebellion. The Austro-Hungarian Delegations at their sitting to-day voted a war credit of 8,000,000 florins (£800,000) to meet the expenses of the army despatched to quell the rising in the southern provinces. PARIS, February 1. The Union Generate Bank. M. Boulox, manager of the Union Generate Bank, which recently suspended payment, has been arrested in consequence of disclosures made in connection with the conduct of the affairs of the institution. NEW YORK, February 1. The Persecuted JewsA largely attended public meeting was held here to-day, at which resolutions of sympathy with the position of the Jews in Russia wore passed. It was also resolved to communicate with the Government, and to request it to intercede with the Czar, with a view to steps being taken to stay the persecution of the Jews in his empire.
