Sir, —According to your instructions we have made a practical test and thorough examination of the following Sewing Machines, viz., the Wheeler and Wilson, Jones and C 0.,. Wertheim, and the Davis, and the results of our experiments are set forth in the tabulated statement attached. I We find that the Wertheim and Jones all of the Singer type and similar. In construotlon, and should be classed in the same order. Tho Wheeler and Wilson differs In construction, but the results of our experiments are similar to the former named. r As regards the DAVIS, we cannot but agree with the jury that it is very feuperior io any of the others, and went through i very test to our entire satitfaction. We therefore beg to recommend that the ', Machines be placed in the following order : FAMILY MACHINES. Ist, The Davis; 3rd, Wheeler and Wilson, Tones and Co., Wertheim. HAND MACHINES.
