The brig Emperor loft Newcastle for this port on January 10th. The Union Steamship Company’s s.s. Alhambra, Captain John Mclntosh, arrived from Southern porta and Melbourne at 730 a.m. yesterday, and left for Wellington, West Coast and Melbourne at 3 p.m. The barque Manhegan was burning at Newcastle for nine hours. The officers refused to allow her to bo cast adrift from the wharf until the harbormaster arrived. He gave preomptory orders for her to be towed into deep water and scuttled, but this was prevented by her running on a sandbank. The barque was towed off the bank to-day, and moored alongside the'Bulloek Man! jetty. No cine has been discovered to the origin of the fire. The damage to the vessel is estimated at upwards of .21000 There ■was a suspicion that the fire was the work of an incendiary. SHIPPING TELEQBAMS. Auckland, January 23. Arrived—Myrtle, from Samoa.
