WESLEYAN CONFERENCE.
The Conference re-assembled yesterdaymorning at 10 o’clock, when the chair was taken by the president. Devotional exercises were led by Messrs Crump and Watkin. and the journal of Saturday’s proceedings was read and confirmed. The secretary read the following letter from, the Primitive Methodist district meeting .at present in session in Wellington : “ Dear Brethren, —The New Zealand district meeting of the Primitive Methodist Church, now sitting in Wellington, sends fraternal greetings to your Conference, and prays that your work during the year may be richly blessed. It also desires to express sympathy with you in the loss sustained by the Tararna disaster. “ Yours fraternally, “Joseph Losa, Chairman. “Jambs Gnr, Secretary,” The corresponding secretary was directed to prepare and send a suitable reply. A report on the character and work of Native ministers in the Auckland district was presented, and it was resolved that Martin -L. Waiti, Bameka, Hori Te Kurei and Wi Warena Pawa pass in their respective years. A communication was received from the Bev. Jas. Bailer acknowledging the receipt of a letter of sympathy sent by the Conference. Mr Kirk was permitted to withdraw his request to become a supernumerary, on t understanding that a circuit suited to failing strength be provided for him,,. Under the question, “What ministers have died during the year? ” the names of the Revs. J. B. Richardson and John Armifcage were read. The Conference here joined in singing hymn No. 940, after which Mr East led the meeting in prayer. The obituary notices prepared by the Canterbury distriot meeting having been read, Messrs Morley, Fairclocgh, Crump, Lee, Best, Kirk, McNicoll, Fee, and the President bore testimony to the Christian character and earnest work of both of these two brethren, also of Messrs Ocnnall and Mitchell, who, with them, were lost in the ill-fated steamship Tararua. The Conference then adjourned, in order that the stationing committee might meet to prepare the second draft of stations for the ensuing year. The session resumed at three o'clock. Mr Buddie strongly pressed, his request to become a supernumerary. It was resolved—“ That his request be granted, and that Messrs Beid and Watkin prepare a suitable resolution forentry on the Conference journal.” The stationing committee presented their second draft. After several emendations had. been suggested, the draft of stations was- recommitted, and the Conference again adjourned till seven o'cloak. At the evening session a telegram was- read from the Free Methodist district meeting, now holding its sittings at Wellington, conveying fraternal greetings. A suitable reply was directed to be eont.
The Assistant Secretary read the draft of the pastoral addresj, which was most eloquent and forceful, traversing the main events in connection with the Wesleyan Church during the last year, and referring to the various agencies which are being employed for the extension of Christ's kingdom throughout this land. Several of tho members spoke to the address ; and on the motion of the ex-presi-dent, seconded by Mr Lee, it was ordered to be printed in the minutes of the Conference. The second draft of stations was then read and accepted. The following is an abstract : Auckland, Reid, Dewsbury, Spence ; Grafton road, Oliver, Paraonson ; Three Kings College, Watkin ; Thames, Bull; Waiuku, Salter ; Cambridge, Carr; Hamilton, Dukes ; To Awamntu, Wills ; Wairoa, Caughey ; Kawakawa, Brooke; Whangarei, Dellow; Gisborne, Hudson; New Plymouth, Taylor Patea, Luxford, Jones ; Palmerston, Griffith Wellington, Bavin, Baumber; Greytown, Dewsbury ; Maslorton, Isitt ; Blenheim, MoNicoll; Qreymouth, Griffin; Christchurch, Morloy, Tinsley ; St. Albans, Kirk ; Lsestou, Keall j Rangiora, Smith ; Ashburton, Standage ; Dunedin, Best, Qillam; Port Chalmers, Thomas. The meeting closed with prayer and the benediction by the president.
