IP KB PBBBI ABBOOXA.TIOK.J AUCKLAND, January 18. The Maori King. Tawhiao and a party of chiefs leave Grakei to-morrow by steamer, arriving at Auckland at noon. They will be driven through the city and suburb!, and given a banquet in the Choral Hall in the evening and will probably be entertained on Friday at another banquet, The Mayor will preside. Among the guests invited are the Attorney-General, Justice Q-illies, and the captain of the German warship Habeoht. Archdeacon Maunsell and other old Maori missionaries visited Tawhiao. Important Item. Jessie Godfrey, sixteen months old, was knocked down by a ’bus. Her arm will have to be amputated. NEW PLYMOUTH, January 18. An Attempt at Suicide. Elizabeth Hodges attempted to commit suicide by running into the sea from the beach. She was rescued with difficulty. A Maori Wake. A tangi is being held on the great Waitara chief, William King, who died at the age of ninety.

The New Zealand Primitive Methcdist Conference is still in session. The Bev. J. Ferguson, F.8.A.5., was appointed representative to the English Conference, and the Bev. A. J. Smith was nominated the English Conference representative to the next New Zealand Conference, which will sit in Auckland about the 25th of January, 1883. Considerable time was taken up with the question of stationing of ministers, and the following appointments were eventually confirmed : New Plymouth, Bev. J. Long; Wellington, Bevs. A. J. Smith, B. B. Horseby, and W. J. Dean (superannuated) ; Auckland, Revs. W. 8. W. Otter and J. Guy; Invercargill, Bev. D. Dutton, F.8.A.5.; Timarn, Bev. J. Sharp; Thames, Bev. O. F. Barley ; Greendale, Bev. P. Wi Jones; Ashbnrton, Bev. J. Dixon; Dnnedin, Bevs. O. B. Ward and J. Dnmbell, and Mr W. B. Hayes circuit missionary ; Christchurch, Bev. J, Ward; Mauawatu, Bev. S. T. Sadler and T. W. Adamson; Geraldine, Bev. J. H. Luke ; Oamaru, Bev. J. Clover. At a meeting of the Free Methodist district meeting a resolution of sympathy and condolence with the Wesleyan Conference in the losses sustained through the Tararna disaster was unanimously passed. .LarrikinismEleven boys were charged this morning with larrikinism on New Year’s Eve, by indulging in smashing windows, removing gates, and so forth. They were found guilty and ordered to pay 19a 6d each, being their proportion of the damage done. Four who did not pay were sent to gaol for one week. DUNEDIN, January 18, The Drink Again. At the inquest on Price, bootmaker, who shot himself, nothing of importance was elicited except that he had been drinking heavily since Christmas. A verdict of temporary insanity was returned. The Synod. The Synod concluded their sitting to-night.
