CANTERBURY COURSING CLUB.
The annual meeting of the Canterbury Coursing Club was held on Wednesday evening, at the Sfiade. There was a fair attendance. Mr E. R. Deacon was voted to the chair.
The Secretary having read the minutes of the previous annual meeting, stated that be regretted the accounts were not audited, through the absence of Mr B. B. Hill, who had always acted in that capacity ; but he might state that the financial position of the Club was as follows:—Receipts, £538 19s 3d, made up as follows : —Balance from 1880, £sl 16s 3d ; subscriptions, £55 13s ; entries and sale of cards, £431 10s. Expenditure, £503 6s 3d, leaving a balance of £35 13s, against which unpaid accounts to the amount of £lO must be placed. The result of the year’s coursing had been very satisfactory, and he was glad to announce that the Dog Show held on November 9th in connection with the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association had resulted in a clear profit of £SO. [Cheers.] It was hoped the dog show would be continued annually. He would remind the members that the Waterloo Cup was contested in Southland last season, but despite that they bad still a credit balance.
On the motion of Mr E. Cookson, seconded by Mr Ravenhill, the report and balance sheet were adopted, subject to the latter being audited. The next business was the' election of officers and committee.
Mr Wynn Williams, M.H.R., was unanimously re-elected president. Messrs W. Mincbin, H. J. Mathias, D. McMillan, John Holmes, G. G. Stead, and Drs. Prins and Frankish were elected vice-presidents. Six members of committee retiring, Messrs Judge, Deacon, Walker, Oharteris, Porter, and Walters were elected for the ensuing term,
After certain matters of interest had been mentioned and discussed, and several new members proposed, Mr Walters proposed that the meeting bo adjourned till Wednesday, February Ist, same time and place. Thia concluded the meeting.
