Sir, —According to your instructions we have made a practical test and thorough examination of the following Sewing Machines, viz., the Wheeler and Wilson, Jones and Co., Wertheim, and the Davis, and the results of our experiments are set forth in the tabulated statement attached. We find that the Wertheim and Jones all of the Singer type and similar in crastruotlon, and should be classed in the same order. The Wheeler and Wilson differs In construction, but the results ol our experlmeits are similar to the former named. As regards the DAVIS, we cannot tut agree with the jury that it is very fcupenor to any of the others, and went throigh every test to our entire satisfaction. We therefore beg to recommend that ;he Machines be placed in the following order:— FAMILY MACHINES. Ist, The Davis; 3rd, Wheeler and Wilsin, Jones and Co., Wertheim. HAND MACHINES.
