The chage of manslaughter against a Cambridge Native broke down at the Supremo Court to-day owing to a flaw in the indictment. Accused was rearrested, and will be proceeded against in the Auckland Magistrate’s Court. HAVELOCK, January 12. Fatal Accident. Charles O’Donnell met with an accident yesterday at Totara Hill, about eight miles from Havelock. A truck went over him bodily at 9 a.m. He died at 3 p.m. DUNEDIN, January 12, CricketThe English Eleven commenced a three days’ match against the Dunedin eighteen to-day. There was a strong northerly wind blowing. Spring won the toss, and sent Dunedin in, and Peate and Midwinter opened the bowling. The fielding was not particularly bright. At 1 30, two wickets were down for 30, Vernon being bowled for 13, and Orawshaw smartly taken at the wickets for 9. Harris then went in and made 11, including a fine hit for 4 from Midwinter. He was bowled by Peate, who is in fine form, his analysis showing—lß overt, 15 maidenr, 3 wickets, 11 runs. At the luncheon adjournment the score stood at 42 for three wickets.
