Mailt close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alteraI on*) as under : THUESDAY, JANUARY 12. For Otago, per Hawea, at 11 a.m.; late fee letters, 11.40 a.m.; guard’s van, 12.10 p.m. train. For Northern ports, per Arawata, at 1.4 S p.m. ; late fee letters, 2 p.m.; guard's ran, 2.40 p.m. train. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will be closed at Christchurch on Saturday, January 28th, and will be due in London on March 13th. SYDNEY J. DICK. Chief Postmaster.
