Presentation* A presentation of an address was made to H. Mollhone last night by the Hibernian Society. AUCKLAND, January 10, The Mail Steamer. The mail steamer has gone down to the quarantine island. The Health Officer and Postmaster followed her. It is not known what disease is aboard. WELLINGTON. Janury 10, Election Petitions. The following election petitions are in the hands of the Chief Justice :—Rutherford v Sutton (Hawke’s Bay), Hollis v Allwright (Lyttelton), and Oowlishaw v Pilliet (Stanmore) • DUNEDIN, January 10. The late Elections. At the City Court Arthur Taine was committed for trial for personation. Crime i At the Supremo Court John Strain was sentenced to three years for robbery, and John B. Mclntosh, late manager of the Walton Park Company, to four years, for embezzlement. It was stated the prisoner had made reparation to the company for his defalcations. John Elett, for larceny at Oamarn, was acquitted. The criminal sessions then dosed.
