The relations between Turkey and Austria and Germany have lately assumed a most friendly tone, and the growing entente between the three empires is daily becoming more marked. The Markets- . Consols have further advanced to 100 J. New Zealand securities remain at the following quotations:—Five per Cent. 10-40 Loan, 104; Five per Cent. 1889 Loan, 104; Four and a Half per Cent. 1879-1904 Loan, 101 f. Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse, remains at 575; New Zealand ditto, at 535; Adelaide flour, ex store, 42s 6d. The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 2,890,000 quarters. The tallow market is strong. Australian, best beef, has advanced to 42s 6d; best mutton, to 475. The total stock of tallow in London on January Ist was 7200 casks. Best Scotch pig iron, No. 1, f .o.b. in Clyde, has advanced to 545. Galvanised iron, 26 guage, £lB ss.' PARIS, January 7. The French Treaty.
The negotiations between the English and French Commissioners for the conclusion of the French commercial treaty have now been finally broken off, and Mr Cross, the British delegate, has returned t© London. The Paris papers to-day, in their leading articles on the subject of the termination of the negotiations, are almost unanimous. They profess an anxiety that the treaty should be concluded between England and France. VIENNA, January 6. Dalmatian Insurgents.
Intelligence is to hand from Southern Dalmatia that the agitation among the inhabitants of the district is daily increasing, and the fears of a general rising are entertained. The Austrian Government has accordingly despatched a force of 7000 troops to the scene of the threat aned disturbance.
