Total, £1516 Os 4d. GRAIN REPORT. But little business has been transacted in the groin market during the week, owing principally to the holidays. Wheat is a trifle firmer for export through advices of a somewhat better demand in the English market for Continental purposes. There is now little left in first hands, hut merchants’ stocks are ample until harvest. Buyers quote 4s for odd lots offering. Oats are quiet at last quotations. There is very little enquiry except for local purposes, which are mostly of a retail nature. Holders are not, however, disposed to push sales, as they look for better values later on. Barley is firm at 3s 6d to 3s 9d for best samples. The bulk of this growing grain is said to be very thin and inferior, cwing to the dry weather, and holders are consequently very firm in their views. A few sales of rye grass have heen made at 3s 3d io 3s 6d for early delivery. There are large lines being offered this season, thereby forming a marked contrast to last year. Farmers state that the late nor’-westers have done great damage to the new crop, and, no doubt, in some localities this will be found to be the case. Millers have reduced their quotations in flour to £lO 10s, f.0.b., and report a very quiet business for the week. Bran and sharps are quoted at £4 10a, f.0.b., sacks included, with a fair demand.
