These sports were held on Boxing Day, and passed off very successfully. Following is a list of the events : Boys’ Race (under fourteen), 100 yards. First prize, 7s Gd ; second, 2s Gd. J. Sinclair 1 George Keats 2 Men’s Race, 100 yards. First prize, £1; second, 10a. Atkinson 1 W. E. Church 2 Boys’ Bace (under eighteen), 100 yards. First prize. 15a ; 2nd, 7a 6d. A. M’Loughlin 1 F. Knowles 2 Soys’ Baco (under fourteen); 220 yards. First prize, 7a Gd ; 2nd, 2a Gd. G. Sinclair 1 A. Truman 2 Girls' Race, 100 yards. First prize, 5a ; second, 2s ; third, la. Misses Jincvan and Wilkie tied for first place, Miss Duder being third Men’s Race (handicap), 220 yards. First prize, £1 ; second, 10s. W. Church, syds 1 Boys’ Race (under eighteen); 220yds. First prize, 15» ; second, 7a 6d. A. M’Longhlin ... 1 Ogior 2 Boys’ Sack Race (nnder fourteen); 150 yards. First prize, 7s Gd; second, 2s 6d. George Ryde had this race from the beginning, bnt an objection was entered on account of age, which was allowed, and the prizes given to Harry Ryde, 1; Geo Sedcole, 2. Men’s Race (handicap); quarter mile. First prize, 25s ; second, 10a.
J. Wilkinson, scratch ... 1 S. Keats, 7yds 2 Egg and Spoon Race. Prize, 10s. Entrance, Is. Fifty yards. Church won easily. Running High Jump. First prize, clock; second, sa. H. Feary 1 E. Peary 2 Boys’ Race (under eighteen), quarter-mile. First prize, 15s ; second, ss. A. Lee, 10 yds 1 McLouglin, scratch 2 Boys’ Three legged Race (under fourteen), 100 yards. First prize, 6a ; second, 3s. Ryde and Leagues 1 Perhnm and McGrath 2 Men’s Hurdle Race (handicap), qnarter-milo. First prize, 30s; second, 15s, Church, scratch 1 J. Loo, 8 yds 2 Tug of War (ten or twelve aside), Druids v Oddfellows; two out of three. Prize, £2. Entrance, Is each competitor. This was the event of the day, and was very closely contested. Ten pulled on each aide, and at the first attempt the rope broke, but was spliced again, when the Oddfellows gradually pulled the Druids over tho mark. The second was indeed a teg of war, each side alternately having a slight advantage, but in the end the Drnids hod to sucenmb. Vaulting with Pole. Prize, 10s. Church 1 Ono Milo Walking Race (handicap). First prize, 25s ; second, 10s. H. Feary, scratch 1 C. Becker, 15 yds 2 Patting the Stone, Prize, 10s. H. Carter, 33ft Sin ... ... 1 One Mile Bace.
