Sir, —According to your instructions we have made a practical test and thorough examination of the following Sewing Machines, viz., the Wheeler and Wilson, Jones and Co , Wertheim, and the Davis, and the results of our experiments are set forth in the tabula' ted statement attached. We find that the Wertheim and Jones all of the Singer type and similar in construction, and should be classed in the same order. The Wheeler and Wikon differs in construction, but the results oi our experiments are similar to the former named. As regards the DAVIS, we cannot but agree the jary that it is very tuperior to any"mf the others, and went through every test to eur entire satisfaction. We therefore beg to recommend that the Machines be placed in the following order : FAMILY MACHINES. Ist, The Davis ; 3rd, Wheeler and Wilson, Jones and Co., Wertheim. HANS MACHINES.
