♦ The Customs duties collected at Christchuroh oaThursday, December29th, were aB follows: Spirits. .£2*2 18s 5d ; wine, £ '47 2s 4d : beer, £2B 13s 6d; sugar, .£'6o 6s fld ; tea, £lB 5s 8d; goods by weight. £lB 'sa 7d ; ad valorem, .£64 14s 4d. Total, £6BO 16s 4d. At the usual sitting of the Waste Lands Board, held at Christchurch on December 29th, sales were made as follows:— Ordinary: Ashley. 3a. Villase settlements, 3a lr. Total acreage sold, 6a lr. Total cash received, £42. Refunds on account of f rmer purchases were made in the amount of £5 8) 9d. GRAIN AND PRODUCE. The present week has been almost totally devoid of grain transactions. Holders of wheat are relieving their surplus stock by shipment to London, and are not purchasers of any odd lota over 4s. The Krglish market continues vry quiet, and sales cannot be effected at anything approaching present prices, except for spot parcels. Oats are without alteration at Is Pd to 1b lis, according to quality. There is little enquiry except for local ÜBe. Barley continues fairly firm at 3s 6d for best sampleß down to 2s for feed quality. In flour, bran, aid sharps, tliere is next to nothing doing. Bakers are purchasing from band to mouth at £lO 10s to jCU. The export demand is very quiet, and outside millers are accepting less than local quotations. A few falsi of rye grass have been made at 3s 3d to 3s 6d, but prices are still nnsnttled.
