Mr. ill close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as tinder SATURDAY, DECEMBER 31. For Otago, per Wafcatipn, at 1.45 p.m.; late fee letters, 2 p.m.; guard’s ran, 2. 40 p.m. train. For Westport, per Westport, at 1.45 p.m. ; lata fee letters, 2 p.m.; guard’s van, 2,40 p.m. train. For United Kingdom, Continents of Europe and America, West Indies, Cape of Good Hope, Natal, Ac. (via San Francisco), Sandwich Islands, and Northern Ports of New Zealand, per Wanaka as follows :—Ordinary letters at 6.50 p.m. ; lata fee letters, at 7 p.m. ; books and newspapers, at 6.30 p.m. ; money orders at 3 p.m. ; registered correspondence at 5 p.m.; guard’s van, 8.10 p.m. train. This mail will be duo in London on February 14th.
Notice. —Monday, 2nd January, will be kept as Post Office holiday, and the offices will open for one hour only, namely, from 9 to 10 a.m., for sale of stamps and registration and delivery of letters.
The chief office will open from 8 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, 3lst instant, for delivery of letters to applicants, as there will be no delivery by letter carriers on the following Monday. SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
