[By Telegraph.] [Per s.s. Wakatipu, at Wellington.] LONDON, December 19. A Bedouin murdered a soldier at Suez, and I the affair led to a pot among the military in the I course of which the Governor was subjected to an outrage. December 20. Eighteen Socia’ists bare been arrested in Vienna. There were forty deaths by the explosion at the Abram Colliery, Wigan, Lancashire. The Lord Mayor of London has communicated with the Provincial Mayor, requesting cooperation in the movements initiated for the defence of property in Ireland during the present period of lawlessness. A farmer has been murdered at Abbeyleix, Queen’s County, Ireland. In consequence of the menacing attitude assumed by the prominent memb;ra of the ladies’ Land League, the Government have determined to suppress the organisation, and the authorities are preparing the prison at Grange garman, county Dublin, for the reception of political offenders. I he Governor of Eastern Siberia reports that the schooner Jeannette, fitted out for Arctic exploration purposes by James Gordon Bennett, of the “ Now York Herald.” and generally believed to have perished, has been discovered safe. December 21. The Atlantic steamer Bath City has been wrecked, and ten people drowned. She was a vessel of 172 1 tons, and was built in 1880. The members of the Ladies’ Land League, suppressed by the Government as a seditions and illegal association, have held a meeting and openly defied the action of the Government. A gas explosion of a serious n iture occurred in Vienna, causing several deaths and injuring several other persons. The Customs authorities at Now York discovered 18H0 cases of rifles shipped for Liverpool, and described as “hardware.” The Orient Company’s new steamer, Australia, built entirely of steel, was launched to-day. She is intended for the Anglo-Anstralian trade. A thermometer known to have been in the balloon in which Mr Powell, M.P., was a passenger, has been picked up on the sands near Portland. There is scarcely any doubt that the balloon and all in it perished. December 22.

Since the catastrophe at the Bing Theatre in Vienna the public have almost entirely forsaken the other theatres in the city. In order to restore confidence the lessees of the various theatres have formed a deputation to the Emperor, asking that experts bo appointed to report on the means of egress from the bnildings. Seventeen British sailors wore arrested in New Orleans for causing a disturbance at a public meeting. The statement that Mr Parnell has been removed from Kalmainham gaol to Armagh gaol is without foundation.
