Bashford, of Colombo street, hod a confectionery stall, which received a well merited share of public favor. Ample provision was made for the comfort of tho pedestrians by the erection of tents for dressing, and thanks to the efficiency of tho hon. •eo,, Mr H. Palmer, junr., the events were got off with commendable punctuality. The coarse was not in good condition, being neither‘watered nor rolled. LEITHFIELD, These sports were held this year in Mr Stace’s paddock, immediatelv opposite the Government Schools, instead of tho church paddock, as heretofore. Arrangements were made to carry the various items out expeditiously and to the satisfaction of all, and the committee must be congratulated upon the success of their endeavors. This time tbo sports were hold under the auspices of the South Rakaia Oddfellows’ Lodge, and it augurs well for their success that so young a lodge should have carried out so good a programme so soon after its inauguration. The weather was beautifully tine, but the attendance on the f round was not nearly so numerous as on owner years. In the absence of a band, Mr Q-eorge M'Donald, of Seafield, amused the young people by playing.during the afternoon on his bagpipes.
