GEEYMOUIH RACES. [PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAII.J GRHYMOUTH, December 27. It was again fine to-day, and about on* thousand people were present. Geet Valley Stakes Handicap of 50 sovs ; one and three quarters of a mile. Four started, and there was a keen race between Greyhound end Lady Grey. The former carried 9st 101 b and tho latter 7st. Greyhound won by half a length. Both were severely punished. Time—3min 28Jseo. The Hack Eaco was a boil over, Sedan beating Sandfly by half a length. Borough Handicap of 30 sovs; one mile and a half. There were five entries and four started. Whalebone was scratched. There was a capital race between The Field and Bide sWee who won by a bead, which was a surprise to the public. Time—2min 55Jseo. The Railway Stakes fell through, it is said, on account of Mr Freath objecting to the weight put on Greyhound, 9it 121 b, while Lady Grey was in for 6it 101 b. The Consolation Handicap was won by Elfin King, which beat Lady Grey, there being only two pounds difference in weight. TAKAPUNA EACE3. [press association telegram.] AUCKLAND, December 27. There was a steady rain all day for tbe first meeting of the Takapuna Jockey Club, at which 1500 were present. Tbe principal events wore— Dkvonport Cup, of 75 sovs. Nebula 1 . Moonstone 2 Handicap Steeplechase, of 75 sovs. Young Sledmere 1 Hard Times 2 Handicap Hurdles, of 25 sovs. Harkaway 1 Clarence was run off the hurdles by Native, and on coming round baulked.
