Spinningdale was scratched for the Champion Stakes, but there was no betting on the event. There are very good entries for the Oaulfield meeting on Boxing Day. Tbe agitation for the Sunday trains haa been revived, but without present success. Heavy rain has fallen all over the oolony the lost two days. SYDNEY, December 20. Respecting the massacre of the crew of the schooner Isabel at Santo Island, where the natives are cannibals, they made a feast of the orew, and all the remains were scalded, scraped, and got ready for cooking. As Sir H. Paries' visit to England and Amerioa will be semi-official, the opinion is that he should have an allowance. A rich deposit of alluvial gold has been found six miles from Armidale. One miner got ten pounds weight of gold in five days.
