Mails close at the Chief Post Office for tht following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under : SAT DEDAY, DECEMBER 24. For Northern Ports, per Penguin, at 7.15 p.m. The guard’s van must not be used for this mail. TUESDAY, DECEMBER 27. For Otago, per Rotomahona, at 1.45 p.m. ; late fee letters, 2 p.m.; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. „ . , ~ For Northern Ports, per Hawes, at 1.45 p.m. ; late fee letters, 2 p.m.; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 28. For the United Kingdom and Continent of Europe, via Brindisi (specially addressed correspondence only), to connect with Orient steamer at Melbourne, Australian Colonies, per Express train, connecting with Rotomahana, at Port Chalmers, at 7 a.m. Notice.— Monday, 26th inst., and Monday, 2nd January, will bo kept as Post Office holidays, and the offices will open for one hour only, namely, from 9 to 10 a.m., for sale of stamps and registration and delivery of letters. The chief office will open from 8 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, 24th, and Saturday, 31st instant, for delivery of letters to applicants, as there will bo be no delivery by letter carriers on the following Mondays.
