Mails close at the Chief Poet Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations} as -ruder SATURDAY. DECEMBER 24. For Westport, per Kangaroo, at 9.40a.m.; late fee letters, 9.50 a m. ; guard’s van, 10.25 a.m train. For Otago, per Waitaki, at II 33 a.m. ; lata fee letters, 11.40 a.m. ; guard’s van, 12.10 p.m. train. For Northern Ports, per Penguin, at 7.15 p.ra. The guard’s van must not be used for this maiL Notice. —Monday, 26th inst., and Monday, 2nd January, will be kept as Post Office holidays, and the offices will open for one hour only, namely, from 9 to 10 a.m., lor sale of stamps and registration and delivery of letters. The chief office will open from 8 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, 24th, and Saturday, 31st instant, for delivery of letters to applicants, as there will bo be no delivery by letter carriers on the following Mondays. ” SYDNEY J.
