THE NEW DAVIS Vertical Feed; SEWING MACHINE PROVED Itself superior to all other Machines in the Melbourne Exhibition. Read the following : COPY OF REPORT. Melbourne International Exhibition, 11th April. 1881. To J. Cosmo Newbery, Eeq., Superintendent of Junes and Awards. Sir, —According to your instructions we have made a practical teat and thorough examination of the following Sewing Machine*, viz , the Wheeler and WUion, Jones and Co-, Wertheim, and the Davis, and the results of our experiments are set forth in the tabulated statement attached. We find that the Wertheim and Jones all of the Singer type and similar in construction, and should be classed in the same order. The Wheeler and Wilson differs in construction, but the results of our experiments are similar to the former named. As regards the DAVIS, we cannot but agree with the jury that it is very superior to any of the others, and went through every test to our entire satisfaction. We therefore beg to recommend that the Machines be placed in the following order ; FAMILY MACHINES. Ist, The Davis ; 3rd, Wheeler and Wilson, Jones and Co., Wertheim, HAND MACHINES. Ist, The Davis ; 2nd, Wertheim ; 3rd, Wheeler and Wilson. Jones and Co. (Signed) BOBARDT 1 ~ . QUARRY j Ex P«ts. STATEMENT OF EXPERTS AT THE MELBOURNE EXHIBITION. DAVIS.
