THE PROPOSED EXHIBITION.

A meeting of the committee formed to leoure a proper representation of New Zealand at the exhibition of Messrs Joubert and Twopeny was held to-day at 11.30 a.m. Present —Messrs J. P. Jameson (in the ohair), B. Allen, J. A. Bird, W. B. Mitchell, B. H. Wood, Moor, H. B. Kirk, W. S. Smith, C. P. Hulbert, H. B. Webb, F. Jenkins, T. O. Kelioy, &. Tombs, 0. Hull and G. B. Hart. The Chairman briefly pointed out the necessity of the committee going actively to work in the matter of watching over the interests of Canterbury at the proposed exhibition of Messrs Joubert and Twopeny. Mr Jenkins stated that he thought it was as well for the committee to at onoe go to work and push forward what they were appointed to do. He should move—" That the committee at onoe proceed to take active steps to carry out the work for which they were appointed, viz., the securing of a proper representation of New Zealand at the proposed exhibition of Messrs Joubert and Twopeny."

Mr Allan seconded the motion, which was carried. It was then resolved to forward circulars to the various Industrial Associations and others interested, asking them to join with the committee in seouring a proper representation of New Zealand.

Mr Allan thought the time had now arrived when they should appoint sub-committees to work up the exhibitors in the various branches of industry. The Chairman thought that the best method wonld be first to hold a meeting of those willing to co-operate with the oommittee, when many would, probably, come forward to help them in the work. He also pointed out that the committee were a perfectly independent body, only appointed to watch over the interests of the exhibitors, and were not in any way, exoept in this respect, connected with Messrs Joubert and Twopeny. After some further discussion it was resolved that the sub-committee already appointed, viz, Messrs Allan, Smith, and Jameson, with the addition of the name of Mr Hull, should go through the list of exhibits, and suggest the names of sub-com-mittees to deal with the various points. Mr Mitchell reported that up to date he had received thirty applications from exhibitors for space. He also exhibited the plans of building proposed to be erected. After some conversational discussion with respect to the site the meeting adjourned.
