Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) an under : SATUEDAY, DECEMBER 10. For Northern ports, per Penguin, at 7.30 p.m. The guard’s van must not be used for this mail. MONDAY, DECEMBER 12. For Northern ports and Australian colonies, via Sydney, per Wakatipu, at 9.40 a.m. ; late fee letters, 9.50 a.m.; guard’s van, 10.20 am. train. TUESDAY, DECEMBER 13. For the United Kingdom, Continent of Europe, via Brindisi (specially addressed correspondence only), Point da Galle, India, Chino, Japan, the East, Aden, Mauritius, Snez, the Mediterranean Ports, Australian Colonies, and Otago, per Te Anau, at 11.30 a.m. ; late fee letters, 11.40 a.m.; quard’s von, 12.10 p.m. train. Notice. —On and after Nov. 1, 1881, money orders will he issued in New Zealand payable at any town in Germany, and_ after Ist January next Money Orders will be issued in New Zealand payable in the United States of America. Postage stamps may now be nsed for stamping receipts under the Stamp Act, 1875, but receipt stamps are not accepted in payment of postages. „ SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
