PREBBLETON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

Tho first flower show of this newly-formed society was held yesterday in tho district schoolroom. The exhibits were most excellent and met with great commendation from the largo number of persons who visited the show during tho day. Messrs Norman (Papanui), Tuersley, W. Gimblott, Eaton and Gray acted as judges, and gave every satisfaction in their onoious duties. The members of the society who formed the working committee wore highly praised for tho way the exhibits were staged. Messrs Nairn and Son and Mr W. Gimblott had stages of out blooms which were much admired, (ho former having a stand of pot plants which met with a ready sale. Tho prizes were distributed in the evening by Mr J. N. Toaswill, president of the society. The second show of tho society will bo eagerly looked for, and as this includes farriers* and dairy produce it is anticipated that it will be as successful as the present one.
