COMMERCIAL.
The Customs duties collected at Christchurch on Friday, December 2nd, were as follows : Spirits, £290 5s 9d ; tobacco, £241135; cigars, £34 4a 9d; wine, .£B7 lla 8d ; sugar, £536 4s 7d; tea, £519 15s; goods by weight, £591 4s 7d ; ad valorem. £237619s ; other daties, £577 18s 7d. Total, .£BB6 3s lid. GRAIN AND PRODUCE. With the exception of oats there has been little business doing in the grain and produce markets during the past fortnight. Wheat is quiet at 4s 6d f.o.b. with bat small offerings. Flour has declined 10a per ton, and is now quoted at £sll for best brands, f.o.b. Oats have been in active demand owing to enhanced value in Melbourne, and some large sales are said to have taken place Prices are somewhat irregular, and it is difficult to give reliable quotations, but sales are said to have taken place at from la lOd to 2a 2d. Barley continues firm at 3s 6d for good samples. Dairy produce is quiet, and sales difficult to effect. Some large parcels of butter have been sold at 6d for clearing purposes.
