POPULAR SPORTS ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the above was held on Tuesday afternoon at four o’clock in the City Council Chamber, Present —Mr S. P. Andrews {in the chair), his Worship the Mayor, Messrs H. E. Alport, H. Crooks, Erancis Hobbs, G. Turner, O. Wulkden, J. Drewitt, E. E. Oogan and E, T. Haskins (hon. secretary). Mr Alport said he had sent a note to Mr Elder, explaining that the association had never decided to write to him in the terms stated, and that the matter had been mis reported in the newspaper. Mr Henry Atkinson was elected a member of the association. The advertisement calling for tenders for the privilege of erecting booths, fruit stalls, As., was drawn up and approved of, the number of publicans’ booths being limited to two. After discussing several matters of detail, the meeting adjourned until Friday next.
