MAIL NOTICES.

Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under ; WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 23.

For the United Kingdom, Continent of Europe, via Brindisi (for specially addressed correspondence only), Point de Galle, India, China, Japan, and the East, Aden, Mauritius, Suez, the Mediterranean Ports, Australian Colonies, per express train to connect with Eotomahana at Port Chalmers, at 7 a.m. Late fee letters may be posted in the travelling post office van attached to the express train, on Wednesday, November 23rd.

For Kaikoura, per Tui, at 3.20 p.m ; late fee letters, 3.30 p m.; guard’s van, 4 p.m. train. THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 24.

For Akaroa and Otago, per Penguin, at 9.49 am. ; late fee letters, 9.50 a.m.; guard’s van, 10.20 a.m. train.

For Northern Ports and Fiji Islands, per Eincarooma (connecting with Taiaroa at Auckland for Fiji) at 1.45 p.m.; late fee letters, 2 p.m.; guard's van, 2.45 p.m. train.

The next mail for the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will be closed at Christchurch on Saturday, December 3rd, and will be due in London on January 17th.

Notice.— On and after Nov. 1, 1881, money orders will be issued in New Zealand payable at any town in Germany, and after Ist January next Money Orders will be issued in New Zealand payable in the United States of America. Postage stamps may new be used for stamping receipts under the Stamp Act, 1875, bnt receipt stamps are not accepted in payment of postages. SYDNEY J. DICE, Chief Postmaster.
