The Government steamer Hincmoa, Captain Fairchild, arrived at 6.45 p.m. yesterday from Pictcn with the Canterbury contingent of Volunteers. She will probably return to Wellington to-day. The officers, and indeed every man on board, had a good word to say for the Captain of the steamer, his kindness during a somewhat trying voyage, and his untiring watchfulness for their safety and comfort.
