[PBB PBBBB ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, November 21. A Rash. Step. A woman named Morey attempted suicide to-day by throwing herself into the harbrr from the reclamation wharf. She was speedily rescued. It is stated that her husband left by the Hero with another woman. Death by Drowning. In the capsize of the yacht Bip at Mon. gonui, a boy named Lowe, nephew of Mr Joseph Craig, coal merchant, was drowned. Two men were picked up in an exhausted condition. Accident. Mr Alderton, a candidate for Marsden, while riding to a meeting in northern Wairoa, was thrown from his horse and broke his wrist, besides receiving other injuries. A Maori Candidate. Samuel Mangakia, a chief residing in Auckland, is a candidate for the Maori Western electoral district. He declares himself a Liberal. A Defect Somewhere. Owing to the increase of burglaries a large number of revolvers and life preservers are being purchased. The police authorities are taking special measures to deal with the emergency. WELLINGTON. November 21. A DifficultyThe Chinese gamblers have been remanded till to-morrow through the difficulty of getting an interpreter. Complete Divorces. In the Divorce Court to-day decrees absolute were granted in Barley v Barley, Dunedin ; Campbell v Campbell, Christchurch ; Hcdley v Hedley and Hill v Hill, of Wellington. A rule nisi was granted in Oiaridge v Olaridge, a husband’s petition on the ground of adultery, and decrees were made absolute in the cases of Standish v Standish, Wilson v Wilson, and Weston v Weston. Political. Mr George has retired from the candidature for the Duller. BOSS, November 21, Tire. A fire occurred this evening in Travers Bising Star Hotel. Three other buildings adjoining it were destroyed. There were no insurances, and the fire was entirely accidental. TIMARU, November 21. Home Again. The South Canterbury Volunteers, on their arrival from the West Coast, will be accorded a flattering reception here. They will be met ut the station by the Mayor and loading citizens, and afterwards entertained at a banquet. Satisfactory. The water was turned on to the mains in town to-day, and the testing of the pipes proved most satisfactory. The Wool Crop. Shearing is in full swing in the district, and wool is coming into town rapidly. Advance Timaru. It is expected that the Dunedin steamer will bo discharged into railway trucks on the wharf to-morrow. The laying of rails on the wharf is not completed, but they can be used. DUNEDIN, November 21. A Savage. John Major, son of a woman convicted on a charge of stealing clothes, made a_ fierce attack on the informant in the case immediately after its conclusion. [PEOH OUB OOBEBSPONDBNT]. ASHBURTON, November 21. Recognition of Valour. The local corps will parade to welcome the returning Volunteers.
